Client Review

Jessica

“My idea of Polyamory expanded as I experienced deep, embodied love with a group of “strangers” on retreat. Through the somatic practices, I was able to ask for and receive pleasure without guilt or shame. I also shifted a communication pattern, where I used to attack partners to try to be seen and heard. Now, I can vulnerably ask for what I need without being hurtful. This retreat helped me gain more trust in myself and more communication skills to be able to co-create safe, sensual, and sexy connections.”

Realistic Expectations:

  • Deeper Understanding & Love For Your Partners – With our neuroscience-backed, movement-based approach to couples’ work, you’ll be able to shift patterns that most couples aren’t able to break in years of traditional couples therapy. Any “cracks” in your relationship foundation will be gently revealed and repaired with an even stronger bond. You’ll walk away feeling an indescribable level of compassion and empathy for your partner, while being able to see each other in a fresh, new light. This will make your non-monogamy journey filled with more understanding, trust, and compersion.

  • Feel More Secure & Free In Relationships – With 30+ years of combined experience guiding group & partnered therapy in the non-monogamy community, we’ll create a safe space for you to take playful and daring risks with your partners and co-attendees. Since all of this will happen in your physical body, while gently moving through the fear that it brings up, your nervous system can expand its capacity to give & receive deeper intimacy with less jealousy, fear, and insecurity.

  • Integrate Cognitive Self-Awareness With Real-Life Embodied Change – Because you’re already bringing so much knowledge and insight about yourself and your relationships, we’ll be able to make it “click” much deeper and faster through body and movement therapy techniques. All that time you’ve spent talking about how you want to behave and feel differently? You’ll learn how to consistently follow through on that with your body, so that your change isn’t just a theory – it becomes real in the moment, and last far beyond your retreat experience.

Unrealistic Expectations:

  • “Healed” From Trauma – While this retreat is designed to facilitate an incredible amount of healing and growth, it is not meant to heal trauma altogether or make you immune to future challenges in polyamory. You can expect old triggers to drastically reduce in intensity, which will allow you to be less impulsive or reactive, and more in command of how you express yourself emotionally and physically. You’ll be able to apply these changes once you leave the retreat and continue to explore with more relationships and new dynamics.

Client Reviews

Jay

“At the end of the retreat, I felt the most internally calm that I have felt in a long time. I felt the love of my partner stronger than I have in a long time—specifically the feeling of being loved.”

Nathan

It was a paradise – because of the people there who all helped me be seen, safe, and understood to promote healing. I don’t feel completely shattered and broken-hearted any more. I feel whole again inside my chest, instead of a black hole. I feel literally stitched back together inside by the loving stitches of each person’s support and love. I feel more alive and grounded.

Owen

“Embodied consent was a big deal for me, which surprised me. Just noticing how my body feels when I say ‘yes’ to something that’s actually a ‘no’, has been helping me see opportunities to say ‘no’ when I normally would just go along with something. This in turn has helped me to feel more confident in my ‘no’s and build a safer existence for myself within boundaries that I hold for myself.”

Jess R.

“Since the retreat, I feel a lot more compassion for myself and acceptance of my current relationship situation. I definitely feel a deeper connection with listening to my body. Through the somatic process, I realized how much of an impact a family member has had on my big explosive energy, and how I want to move through this world with more subtle direction. I am now practicing level-headedness with clear, direct communication, instead of big emotional outbursts.”

Sabina

“Seeing that other people have the same struggles that I do was really helpful – even people who are more “advanced” than I am.”

Jamie

“I now realize that I am capable and find comfort in connecting with emotions in my body. I just needed to tune in to the frequency at which my body was communicating with me.”

Recommended Prerequisites

This is a highly vetted, niched retreat experience. Your application is more likely to be approved if you fit the guidelines below.

1. You identify as Non-Monogamous / Non-Traditional / Polyamorous.

This retreat is specifically designed for those who are poly, non-traditional, or ethically exploring “openness.” You may be a great fit whether you are new or have plenty of experience dating other people romantically, platonically and/or sexually. We will support you wherever you are on your journey.

This is NOT a retreat for swingers, couples, or individuals only in search of sex, as there will be a strong emphasis on healing past wounds and building capacity to love deeper. Sex is not the main focus of this retreat – this will be a pressure-free, consent-centered environment!

2. You’ve been making an effort to heal & grow.

You’ve been going to therapy and/or learning trauma, attachment & erotic-based information through books, online forums, and podcasts. You’ve made an effort to apply your knowledge to real-life dating scenarios; however, the ups and downs are still very challenging. This is not your fault! You can gain all the insight in the world, but if you don’t activate your social engagement system in the brain & body, then you can’t truly rewire old habits and integrate lasting change (Stephen Porges, The Polyvagal Theory).

The 15-person maximum on this retreat is intentional. We will have an intimate experience where you’ll be safely guided by Board-Certified Therapists to apply your insights TO real-time relationships with your co-participants. These real-life therapeutic experiences give you the opportunity to create new neural pathways that stimulates long-term, embodied change.

3. You understand that attachment & love are embodied experiences.

“Attachment is an embodied experience. It is first through being present with ourselves in our own bodies, and present with our loved ones, that the rest of the attachment-based skills and capacities of being polysecure can be developed and expressed. As an adult who wants to function from a secure place in your relationships, you can’t affirm, attune, repair, or even play if you are not here with yourself or with your partners.” – Jessica Fern, Polysecure

To strengthen any attachment-based relationship, we must be intentional with how we non-verbally communicate through our gestures, posture, and tone of voice. Past unresolved trauma often blocks the ability to interact in relationships without underlying aggression or fear. Our specific movement interventions have shown to break trauma-driven patterns from the physical body (Bruce Perry, Neurosequential Model) in order to help you be present in relationships and attune through mirroring, matching, softening your body, and so much more.

You’ll experience neuroscience-backed Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT), Somatic Experiencing, & Art Therapy sessions within the privacy of our retreat property. The sessions will be focused on deepening emotional intimacy & love, embodying authenticity and expansion around pleasure, releasing shame from the body, embodied conflict resolution, and more.

4. You crave individualized intervention.

There’s an endless amount of information and guidance on how to improve self-love through meditation, yoga, and nervous system regulation “hacks.” While these can be helpful as daily habits, they are often used as blanket prescriptions that aren’t individualized to meet the complex needs of your Window Of Tolerance, which is necessary for lasting change (Dan Siegel, UCLA – Psychiatry).

During the retreat, you’ll connect to your body so deeply and authentically, that you will learn customized self-care techniques that work specifically for you, even within the group experience. This is not something that anyone (including myself) could possibly predict for you, until moving with you and witnessing how your body responds to different healing interventions. We will pinpoint this together so you can bring it home and keep embodying the next best version of you.

5. You want to experience full-body change.

It’s one thing to experience transformation in the safety of a therapy session. It’s a whole different story once you truly integrate these aha-moments and shifts, out in the real world. This is one of the reasons why so many people experience healing within the privacy of a session with their therapist, but then they don’t see it translate once they step back into their real-life relationships.

During our sessions, you’ll be guided to apply and integrate personal shifts in real-life relationship interactions, amongst other people, and through situations that require real-world decisions. For instance, if another participant is getting too close to you in an interactive experience, we will help you regulate your nervous system, stay grounded in your body, and move in a way that confidently and lovingly asserts your need for space.

This will give you the confidence and experience to follow through on life-changing shifts that often get left behind in the 4 walls of the therapy room.

6. You’re willing to unlearn.

We view Polyamory as more than a personal or partnered journey. Polyamory often invites us to unlearn outdated social conditioning, examine our privilege and recognize how we’ve misused our power. Polyamory can expose our internalized beliefs & microaggressions against marginalized populations. The overall journey can inspire us to become more loving & accepting towards all humans.

Given the diversity of the group that typically comes together on this retreat, the interactions and relationships you create with fellow participants will likely provide the opportunity to unlearn, consider, and eventually shift your own prejudices & biases towards others. Ultimately, we’d love for you to leave the retreat feeling more confident about embodying more love for yourself, your partners AND all other humans in a new, expansive way.

We acknowledge that we are White women leading this retreat and commit to meticulously examine & own our own sh*t both personally & professionally.

“Looking back, our conflicts weren’t really disasters. It was us looking through a screen colored by past trauma. Once we healed the way we were physically reacting to each other, it changed everything for us in a way that nothing else ever had.”
